a, e, o, i, u, y , ij are vowels.
b, c, d , f, g , h, k, l, m, n, p, q, r, s, t, v, w, x, z are consonants.


- word with a long vowel (dubble vowels) and followed by a consonant, vowels will remain only one and follow by -en.

been - benen (leg - legs)
boom - bomen (tree - trees)


- word with a long vowel but followed by two consonant, you can follow by -en.
maand - maanden
paard - paarden


- word with short vowel and followed with a consonant. Put one more consonant and then follow by -en
man - mannen (man - men)

pot - potten (pot - pots)


- word with different vowels and/or followed with a consonant also can put -en.
